My best weekend in Pahang thus far. Normally my weekends in Pahang would be spent rotting in my room. But this weekend was special! One Life hits Kuantan! I was able to experience one of the best exhibitions ever. This was an exhibition like no other. While other exhibitions are normally filled with boards of pictures , this exhibition was truly different.
This ONE LIFE exhibition gives you the opportunity to take a walk in the shoes of HIV/AIDS patients. In the exhibit , you will feel , hear and see what it is like to be a HIV/AIDS victim. This exhibition is an effort by World Vision and other partners to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS victims throughout the world. They have already been to a few countries and are now here in Malaysia.
I have to admit that prior to this , HIV/AIDS was not something that I would have been worried about. Honestly, I thought that the numbers were small in Malaysia. Was I ever so wrong. There are over 70,000 people affected in Malaysia alone and those are just the reported cases. Sadly , this statistic includes children.
Moving on to the details of the exhibition , there were three different stories you could experience. Each one was different from the other. You have the option of walking in the shoes of Srey from Cambodia , Jothee from India or John from Malaysia. If I had the time I would have gone for all 3. Sadly I was in a rush so I could only go for 1.
Anyway , I got to experience the life of John from Malaysia. Apparently he is from Kuantan as well ( I study in Pahang for those who do not know). So I guess it made the whole thing that much more realistic. I could tell you the story , but it would be nothing compared to being there yourself. So why don’t you make a trip down to the One Life exhibition the next time it comes to your town.
This exhibition really has the ability to touch the hearts of many. Hopefully through this , people will learn to be more concerned and not fear HIV/AIDS victims. They are humans too , don’t isolate them out of our fear of HIV/AIDS. As the saying goes , we fear the unknown. If we know the disease , it is not all that scary. Look up the disease and do your part today. This exhibits makes us look at your own life and realise how lucky we are and yet we take it for granted. You have ONE LIFE, do something useful with it and help them lead a normal life =)

Made In China
Products from China are popularly known for their cheap prices. Whenever something is cheaper than the other stuff on the shelf , “must be from China” is the first thought that hit everyone’s minds.
Due to the prices , these products are often considered unsafe and of low quality. However I think that this is a rather unfair perception. Let me take electrical products as an example. There are those brands from China which you could get for half the price of branded items like Sony and Hitachi. When it comes to safety , both this items come with a one year warranty , meaning that after that you are on your own should anything happen. If China items are indeed that lousy , how are they able to offer the same warranty given by branded companies? As a matter a fact , with it being half the price , technically you automatically get a 2 year warranty. Truth is the price is low due to their overwhelming population making labour cheap. If you noticed , most branded items are made in China as well ;) Just imagine their profit margins!! =O
As for quality , perhaps the quality is not up to par with branded names. However at times , we really do not need that extra quality. Furthermore , China products usually beat branded names when it comes to incorporating the latest technologies in their products. Most would say that the reason for this is that branded companies have to do research and copyright their ideas which takes time. China brands are said to just steal the results of the research and manufacture the items without copy righting their designs first thus making them able to introduce these technologies so much quicker. Well even if it is true , it does not really affect us consumers does it? All those procedures are a corporate thing. The important thing is value for our money right??hehehe =P
Admittedly China products have proved to be a failure in several occasions. However let us not judge them solely by their mistakes. Try looking at the advantages as well =)
