The ISA act has been misused a couple a times in the past few years. Many times it has been considered misused by the government in a means to protect their own agenda. This has struck fear in the heart of the people to question and government of their actions. Fact is , criticism is an important step in moving forward. When the people are afraid to criticise the leaders , our country will not grow.
Najib’s words that the ISA will not be misused is quite hard to believe. Truth is as long as the act is around , people will continue to be afraid. To be honest , I don’t think the ISA is still needed as the laws we already have are sufficient in protecting the people and our country. Nonetheless , if Najib’s administration can stand by his words , then all is good. Let us hope that this is not merely a gimmick to gain votes in the tri-elections.
